Woodlands

Vasse Felix

Outstanding winery and restaurant showcasing regional produce in a beautiful location. Snacks, lunch, seated tastings and tours available. Open daily 10am-5pm, with lunch 12pm-3pm. Bookings recommended. Caves Road (corner Tom Cullity Drive), Willyabrup. Ph (08) 9756 5050 (restaurant).

 

Cullen

Ultra-premium organic and biodynamic wines. Cellar door tastings and excellent four-course lunch available Friday to Tuesday. About 2 minutes’ drive south of Pierro at 4323 Caves Rd, Willyabrup. Ph (08) 9787 8908.

 

Moss Wood

One of the very first Margaret River wineries, Moss Wood is especially renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon. Tour-and-tasting visits are $100 (redeemable on purchase) and by appointment only (9am-4pm Monday through Saturday). At least 2-3 days’ notice is usually required for appointments. Well worth a visit for a unique and in-depth oenological experience.

 

L.A.S. Vino

L.A.S. Vino combines an innovative approach to winemaking with a focus on unique blends and varietals. The name L.A.S. stands for Luck, Art, Science, reflecting the philosophy behind the winemaking process, which combines creativity, scientific precision, and a touch of serendipity Tastings at Pierro Cellar Door, Friday through Sunday.

 

Fraser Gallop

Margaret River classics in a stunning location. Open 11am-4pm daily, with buggy tours of the vineyard and gardens (10.20am-12pm, maximum 7 guests). 493 Metricup Road, Wilyabrup. Ph (08) 9755 7553.

 

Marri Wood Park

Chows Table

A contemporary twist on traditional Chinese cuisine in a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. A la carte lunch Wednesday – Sunday. For dessert head next door for quality bar-to-bean chocolate at Gabriel’s. 5 Quininup Road, Yallingup. Ph (08) 9755 2681.

 

Beerfarm

An independent brewery in a converted dairy barn, with a relaxed atmosphere and a restaurant with a focus on farm-to-table beef. Very child-friendly, with a slip-n-slide for kids in the summer months. Open 11am until late afternoon every day; food served until 3pm. Also open for dinner on Fridays (pre-set menu; bookings essential). Brewery tours available. Dogs on lead welcome. 177 Gale Road, Metricup.

 

The Servo Taphouse

Small bar in an old service station, focused on international craft beer and local live music. Kitchen open 12 - 8pm daily. Dog-friendly. 60 Bussell Hwy, Cowaramup.

 

Red Feather

Drive-through jaffles (the beef brisket jaffle is sensational) on the edge of Cowaramup town. A great option for breakfast or lunch on the road. Order at the drive-through or online. 35 Bussell Hwy, Cowaramup.

 

Gourmet Food Merchant

Great coffee, toasties, cakes, and gourmet provisions. Arrival hampers, picnic boxes and gift boxes available to order online. Open 9am-5pm daily. 4 Bottrill St, Cowaramup. Ph (08) 9755 5136.

 

Ooze and Tang

One of the best restaurants in the region. Modern Australian French Bistro. JP makes great cocktails. Open 5pm-9pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays (closed on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.) Located between Busselton and Dunsborough at 1/20 Monaghans Way, Abbey.

 

Busselton Pavilion

A relaxed gastropub and outstanding wine shop with daily pour menu. Reservations available for indoor dining. Open 11am-9pm Wednesday to Saturday, and 1am-5pm on Sundays. Dogs welcome on a lead in outdoor areas. On Fridays there are free wine tastings with local producers from 5-7pm. 30 Kent St, Busselton. Ph (08) 9752 6000.

 

Settlers Tavern

performances from local musicians, touring artists and community events. Over 50 wines available by the glass (ask for the reserve wine list). Open 11am-9pm daily. Reservations recommended. Dog-friendly (in outdoor areas). 114 Bussell Highway, Margaret River. Ph (08) 9757 2398.

 

Miki's Open Kitchen

Place your trust in renowned Chef Miki for a unique and immersive dining experience. Local produce is incorporated into a series of expertly crafted courses, served alongside Japanese sake, whisky and local wines. First seating 6pm, second seating 8.15pm. Book in advance online. Shop 2, 131 Bussell Hwy, Margaret River.

 

Margaret River Bakery

A beloved local establishment known for its delicious pastries, bread, sandwiches and cakes. Stop in for a sit-down breakfast or lunch. 89 Bussell Hwy, Margaret River.

 

Walsh and Sons

Seated tastings of biodynamic wines and grazing boxes of smallgoods, which are also available to purchase. Open 11am to 5pm every day. Dog friendly in outside areas. 5962 Caves Road, Margaret River. Ph (08) 9757 9176.


Glenarty Road

Farm-to-table restaurant and cellar door. Cellar door open 10am-5pm Wednesday to Sunday, with lunch from 11.30am-2.30pm. Book online. 70 Glenarty Road, Karridale.

 

Morrie’s

A popular restaurant and bar with a vibrant atmosphere and creative cocktail menu. 2/149 Bussell Hwy, Margaret River. Ph (08) 9758 8280.


Rhum Burgundy

Cocktail bar with an extensive international wine list. Open 4.20pm-late Tuesday to Sunday. No bookings. 107 Bussell Highway, Margaret River.

 

Yonder

A intimate cocktail dive bar with a relaxed vibe. Open from 5pm Thursday to Sunday. 4/124 Bussell Hwy, Margaret River.

 


Things to do


Cape to Cape Walk

Especially between Yallingup and Smith's Beach, the Cape to Cape Walk offers breathtaking coastal scenery with dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, and panoramic ocean views. This moderately challenging hike showcases diverse landscapes, including wildflowers, rocky outcrops, and serene lagoons, making it a must-do for nature enthusiasts. Ending at the beautiful Smith's Beach, the trail provides opportunities for swimming and wildlife spotting. Look out for Quininup Falls (a 3.5-kilometer return hike).


Yalgardup Falls (Kevill Road Waterfall)

A charming, seasonal waterfall accessible via a short and easy walk from Kevill Road near Wallcliffe, just south of Margaret River. Surrounded by lush bushland, the waterfall is particularly picturesque after rainfall, featuring cascading water over rocky ledges. Its proximity to town and gentle walking path make it a popular spot for a quick nature escape.


Caves

The Margaret River region is home to several stunning limestone caves, each offering unique formations and experiences for visitors. Jewel Cave is known for its large chambers and unique formations, Lake Cave for its suspended table and reflective surfaces, Mammoth Cave for its fossils, and Ngilgi Cave for its rich history and variety of formations. Mammoth Cave is the most accessible, suitable for all ages and fitness levels, while others may require more physical effort to explore.

 

Koomal Dreaming Experience

The Koomal Dreaming Experience is an award-winning, immersive cultural tour led by Aboriginal guides, showcasing the rich heritage and traditions of the Wadandi Noongar people. Participants learn about bush foods, traditional medicines, and cultural ceremonies. The tour includes a visit to significant cultural sites, including the stunning Ngilgi Cave.

 

Margaret River Farmers’ Market

Pick up fresh, seasonal, and artisanal products from local farmers and producers. Every Saturday 7:30am - 11:30am. Note that dogs are not allowed (but can be tied up outside the markets). Margaret River Education Campus, Lot 272 Bussell Hwy, Margaret River.
